The time has come to say farewell to Lorien. The Company is summoned to the chamber of Celeborn where they are told that the time has come for each to choose whether to continue the Quest, or remain for a time in Lothlorien. There are consequences for each choice. We explore those as we continue our adventure through The Lord of the Rings.

The entire Company agree to leave the walled-garden of Lothlorien. But where does their path lead? As Celeborn explains,

The way to Minas Tirith lies upon this side, upon the west; but the straight road of the Quest lies east of the River, upon the darker shore.

Aragorn had believed that his path led to Minas Tirith, but the loss of Gandalf on the bridge of Khazad-dum has left him to take the wizard’s burden. That is to go where the Ring goes. His decision would depend on the path Frodo would take.
