Jesus said “follow Me and I’ll make you fishers of men.” His brother, James, wrote “religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction…” Based on the premise of these two things we present our new series called Follow Me.
In the first episode of this video series we focus on James 1:27 and the Greek word, threskeia – which is translated into English as “religion” – in order to discover what it means in context. We talk about a group of local disciples that visit different convalescence homes in Shelbyville, Tennessee each week to sing hymns for the residents. And we take a look at Ecclesiastes chapter 12 in order to get a better understanding of the state of many of those in these care facilities.
All this is to encourage our youth to offer pure worship to God by way of serving and caring for others, and, to borrow a line from Kyle Idleman, be a follower of Jesus – not a fan (affiliate link).
