Love In Action At One Day Of Hope 2015 | Follow Me

In Manchester, Tennessee, thousands of Christians reached over denominational fences and divides in order to grasp hands and come together as the unified Body of Christ. This was for the purpose of serving those in need in Jesus’ name. See God’s love in action at One Day Of Hope in this installment of Follow Me.

Love In Action

The Bible is clear about what God wants from His people: that is to “do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8 ESV). We are to do and be these things because God does and is. We are to love because God is love.

Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God.

– 1 John 3:18-19 NLT

Talk is cheap, is what my dad would always say, and Missouri is known as the “Show me” state because its citizens understand that anyone can say anything at anytime. Talk is cheap. This is why John instructed disciples to show that we belong to the truth by our actions.

One Day Of Hope

Manchester, Tennessee strives to be a “Show you” town. Christians here seek to demonstrate God’s love – not for the glory of believers, but for the glory of God alone. They choose to express it through serving and ministering to others.

One of the larger local outreach events is called One Day Of Hope. This year it was held at the Coffee County Fairgrounds on Saturday, October 17, 2015. For this event 40 area churches – again, of all denominational backgrounds – totaling approximately 1200 volunteers came together as the unified Body of Jesus Christ in order to serve over 3,000 of those in need. This was done by providing free:

  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Medical and Dental Care
  • Haircuts
  • Children’s Books
  • Groceries
  • Personal Hygiene Products
  • Job, Marriage, and Family Counseling
  • Games and Entertainment
  • Portrait Photography
  • Prayer

It was truly amazing seeing so many professing Christians joyfully serving others in His name at One Day Of Hope. Our smiles were His smiles; our kindness was His kindness; our love was His love. This is what the Church is. Simple and powerful.
